On February 10, 2026, the fifth edition of the ESPOL Mentoring Program came to a close. The initiative strengthened the professional and personal support provided to FICT students through a structured, multi-level mentoring model, promoting leadership, decision-making, networking, and effective links between academia and the workplace.
As part of the activities of the research project “Evaluation of the potential for recovering critical minerals present in mining waste: sustainable and strategic mining,” funded by the
ESPOL's FICT held THE FINAL PITCH, the final stage of 5MinPitch, where students presented their projects in five minutes before a multidisciplinary jury. The winner was Diana Franco, an engineering student majoring in Petroleum Engineering, who stood out for her technical expertise and clarity of presentation. The initiative strengthens communication skills, critical thinking, and professional development.
ESPOL joined an international CCUS network, strengthening its position in carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies. The process was led by FICT, which presented the institutional capabilities in this strategic area. The integration promotes international cooperation, scientific exchange, and the development of projects related to the energy transition.
Prospective mining engineering students visited the Faculty of Geosciences at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral as part of their leveling process. The visit allowed them to learn about the degree program, talk with authorities and a graduate, and strengthen their vocational guidance through assistantships and academic support.
