The ESPOL's Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) presented its academic programs to students at the Santa María del Fiat School in the municipality of Olón, Manglaralto parish, Santa Elena province. The event took place on Friday, August 7, 2026, as part of the faculty’s outreach and academic dissemination initiatives, with support from the FICT Petroleum Laboratory.
During the event, professors and representatives from the Geology, Mining, and Petroleum programs conducted mobile workshops and hands-on demonstrations for students in their first and second years of high school. Through materials, tools, and examples related to Earth sciences, participants learned about the real-world applications of these disciplines.
The activities addressed topics related to resource exploration, geological risk management, the responsible use of natural resources, and energy generation. Students also learned about career profiles, job opportunities, and fields of development within the programs presented.
The interactive approach encouraged student participation and fostered dialogue with faculty members and representatives from FICT. This approach helped address questions about professional training options and the contribution of Geosciences to Ecuador’s scientific, technological, and productive development.
The event strengthened the bond between FICT and the educational community of Santa Elena by creating a space to introduce Earth science disciplines to high school students and provide them with information about the professional training opportunities offered by ESPOL.
