The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL held a review and evaluation session for the 28 applications received from its student body for the “Pioneros de Ingeniería VIVA FICT” International Mobility Program. The process took place on August 14, 2026, in the FICT Dean’s Office Meeting Room, Building 13A, with the participation of the Evaluation Committee and the oversight bodies established for this call for applications.
The evaluation focused on two areas outlined in the program guidelines: academic excellence and extracurricular profile. The academic component considered the student’s overall performance in relation to their academic record, while the extracurricular profile assessed student leadership, social and community impact, research/scientific development, and personal/extracurricular development.
In the extracurricular area, evidence was reviewed regarding participation in student chapters, clubs, associations, and student government; community projects and volunteer work; research activities, publications, conferences, and technical collaboration; as well as experiences in sports, the arts, culture, entrepreneurship, languages, and complementary training. In this way, the process sought to comprehensively evaluate the applicants’ profiles, in accordance with the characteristics of the FICT Pioneer student.
The evaluation included academic representatives from FICT, institutional and external delegates (the Office of External Relations and the Office of Student Welfare and Ideal Alambrec), and representatives from the four undergraduate programs. The process also included student oversight, academic oversight led by the program coordinators, and mobility oversight led by the mobility coordinator, with the aim of supporting the evaluation from different perspectives and contributing to its transparency and academic representativeness.
The evaluation session was one stage of the program’s selection process; the next phase—consolidation and determination of the results—will take place on August 17, 2026.
The “VIVA FICT Engineering Pioneers” Program seeks to foster academic excellence, leadership, social commitment, scientific and professional development, institutional representation, collaborative work, adaptability, and initiative among its students. The mobility component includes academic and exchange activities in Spain, such as visits to universities, laboratories, and companies.
