Engineer Victoria Rosado, from the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, successfully completed the “Data-Driven Decisions Specialist” bootcamp, strengthening her skills in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and evidence-based decision-making, as part of a national initiative launched in partnership with the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society.

ESPOL is conducting a research project on the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary in the La Prosperina Protected Forest, focusing on its geopatrimonial assessment and the development of strategies for geotourism, geoconservation, and geoeducation. The initiative aims to strengthen scientific knowledge and promote awareness of geological heritage.

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral held a technical seminar on displacement bored piles and the prediction of their bearing capacity using CPT data, enhancing knowledge of geotechnical and structural design through advanced tools and real-time analysis.

ESPOL carried out an international program from April 11 to 17, 2026, in Florence, Padua, and Genoa, focused on strengthening academic cooperation at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The delegation, led by Vice Rector Paola Romero Crespo, promoted inter-institutional agreements to foster student mobility, knowledge exchange, and joint programs. In addition, it participated in the tribute to Luis Parodi Valverde in Genoa, consolidating historical and academic ties. The program strengthened the institution’s international profile.

The ESPOL Teaching Committee held a working session at FICT on April 14, focused on strengthening academic quality and educational offerings. During the meeting, proposals for new technology degree programs and adjustments to master’s programs were discussed, in line with the demands of the local environment and international standards. The session highlighted FICT’s strategic role in institutional academic planning.

The FICT-ESPOL Petroleum and Drilling Fluids Laboratory visited schools in Santa Elena as part of inLab 2026, strengthening institutional ties by promoting the Petroleum Engineering program and its career opportunities; the initiative provided career guidance and introduced young people to the university environment and the energy industry.

ESPOL's FICT participated in an international oil and gas conference, where research from the Master's in Petroleum program was presented, thereby enhancing the institution's visibility and fostering academic partnerships on a global scale.

The Master's Program in Civil Engineering at FICT-ESPOL hosted a seminar on smart construction, focusing on the use of BIM and artificial intelligence for automation and real-time data analysis; the event highlighted how these technologies optimize project management, improve decision-making, and strengthen the partnership between academia and industry in the digital transformation of the construction sector.

The Civil Engineering program at FICT held a workshop to review and update academic competencies and content, aligning them with the current demands of the professional world. During the meeting, key training criteria were analyzed alongside international benchmarks, helping to strengthen an approach focused on problem-solving, innovation, and sustainability. This process helps ensure a high-quality education that is relevant and in line with the challenges of development.

FICT held a meeting to approve the educational objectives for the Petroleum Engineering program, following a review process based on the recommendations of the advisory committee. During the meeting, the committee confirmed that these objectives align with the institutional mission and academic guidelines, marking a key step forward in strengthening the quality of professional education.
