ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) participated in the 16th National Mining Congress (CONAMIN) 2026, held June 15–19 in Trujillo, Peru. The Faculty was represented by Dr. Samantha Jiménez, a professor and researcher at FICT, as part of the institutional delegation led by ESPOL’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Paola Romero.
During the congress, Dr. Paola Romero, a mining engineer, spoke at the International Academic Forum “Innovation in Mining for Sustainable Development,” a forum focused on sharing experiences, trends, and challenges in the sector. The event brought together business leaders, government officials, researchers, and professionals linked to the mining industry, with the aim of driving innovation and promoting sustainable practices in this strategic sector for the region.
FICT’s participation in this event helped strengthen ties with institutions and specialists in the mining field, as well as identify opportunities for academic and scientific collaboration. These forums also facilitate the exchange of knowledge on new technologies, trends, and best practices that can contribute to the development of teaching and research at the Faculty.
FICT’s participation in CONAMIN 2026 reaffirms its commitment to promoting ESPOL internationally and the faculty’s interest in staying connected to regional forums for technical and academic discussion. This type of participation helps strengthen knowledge in areas related to the earth sciences, promoting academic exchange and the building of networks that contribute to sustainable development and the training of professionals with a global perspective.
