FICT ESPOL welcomed 144 new students in the Mining, Geology, Petroleum, and Civil Engineering programs during the PAO 2026 Induction Day; the event helped introduce the freshmen to university officials, program coordinators, student associations, and clubs, facilitating their adjustment and promoting a participatory and well-rounded college experience.

ESPOL hosted a course on geophysical methods applied to geotechnical engineering, combining theoretical and practical training with the use of specialized equipment. The initiative strengthened the technical skills of graduate students and contributed to applied research, as evidenced by projects and scientific publications.

Geology faculty members at ESPOL held a meeting to review academic planning and make progress on international accreditation processes. They outlined actions for the semester, focusing on strengthening practical training, improving the curriculum, and enhancing educational quality in line with standards such as ABET and EUR-ACE.

FICT ESPOL collaborated with the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies to align its programs with the 2026 institutional goals, thereby strengthening strategic planning and ensuring compliance with key performance indicators; the workshop provided an opportunity to coordinate efforts to optimize academic management and ensure continuous improvement in graduate education.

A workshop was held to analyze innovation indicators and research workload, fostering dialogue among researchers and strengthening the institution’s academic and scientific management processes.

An in-person course on workflow automation with n8n was held, focusing on the practical use of digital tools to optimize processes. Participants learned how to integrate applications, work with APIs, and apply automation in academic and professional settings.

“Chongón-Colonche Mágico” is an interdisciplinary publishing initiative that brings together science, culture, and the local landscape through narrative and audiovisual content, promoting science communication and the preservation of geocultural heritage.

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, through its Master’s Program in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction and Sanitation, hosted a seminar on the use of artificial intelligence in project management, focusing on its application in automation, risk analysis, and decision-making. The event highlighted how these technologies are transforming the role of professionals toward more strategic functions, driving more efficient and innovative management in the construction sector.

The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral has strengthened its partnership with Boonker Construcciones to align academic training with the needs of the construction sector, promoting opportunities such as internships, employability, and project development, for the benefit of students and faculty.

The Petroleum Engineering program at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, through the School of Earth Sciences Engineering, held the kickoff meeting for the first academic period of 2026 to review the academic plan, analyze learning outcomes, and outline actions for the semester. This event strengthened faculty coordination and promoted the continuous improvement of professional training in the energy sector.
