Lundin Gold Collaborates with ESPOL's Mining Program on Its Young Professionals Program

FICT and Lundin Gold Virtual Meeting

The Mining program at ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) participated in a virtual informational session organized by the mining company Lundin Gold to learn more about its Young Professionals Program, an initiative aimed at training and developing emerging talent for the mining sector.

During the meeting, held on May 22, 2026, the program coordinator, Silvia Loaiza, Ph.D., engaged in a discussion with representatives from Lundin Gold’s Talent Management department, led by psychologist Mabel Pinto, along with members of her team. The meeting provided a first-hand look at the program’s objectives, scope, and requirements, which are designed for recent graduates and students nearing the completion of their degrees.

The Young Professionals Program aims to develop technical and leadership skills through a training process that provides a comprehensive overview of the mining business. Selected participants will have the opportunity to join a training program lasting between 18 months and 2 years, strengthening their abilities to take on future challenges within the industry.

This initiative strengthens ties between academia and the private sector, fostering collaborative opportunities that contribute to the employability and professional development of future engineers. It also provides ESPOL students and graduates with access to growth opportunities within one of the country’s leading mining companies.
