FICT presented a strategic proposal to help transform ESPOL’s Las Peñas Campus into a space for innovation, sustainability, and interdisciplinary learning, integrating research, community engagement, and academic solutions that have an impact on both the university and society.

FICT is welcoming new tenured faculty members, who will contribute to the advancement of teaching, research, and community engagement in their respective fields of expertise, promoting academic excellence and the generation of knowledge that has an impact on society.

The FICT Petroleum program strengthened knowledge exchange through the participation of an international professor and researcher, creating a forum for dialogue on professional training, innovation, and trends in the energy sector to contribute to academic development and the preparation of future professionals.

FICT facilitated a forum for technical and academic analysis of the challenges and opportunities facing Ecuador’s oil sector, strengthening the dialogue between academia and industry to contribute to the country’s sustainable development, innovation, and energy competitiveness.

Professor and researcher Natividad García Troncoso, Ph.D., of FICT–ESPOL, was appointed as an Early Career Editorial Board Member of the journal *Construction and Building Materials* (Q1/D1), a recognition that highlights her scientific career and strengthens the faculty’s international presence in high-impact research networks.

FICT receives specialized instructional materials from Tecnovoladuras S.A. to strengthen the practical training of mining students through resources focused on drilling and blasting. The initiative includes future training programs and reinforces the collaboration between FICT and the private sector to develop technical skills aligned with the needs of the mining industry.

FICT and UTEQ strengthened their ties of academic, scientific, and technological cooperation by promoting joint projects, exchanging expertise, and undertaking research initiatives aimed at generating practical solutions for the country’s sustainable development.

During the academic visit, civil engineering students from PUCE Santo Domingo toured FICT-ESPOL’s specialized laboratories and learned about its main lines of research, enhancing their education through hands-on experiences related to hydrocarbons, geotechnical engineering, mineral processing, water quality, and technologies for carbon capture and water treatment.

Students in the Petroleum Engineering program deepened their knowledge of artificial lift systems, fault diagnosis, and satellite monitoring as they apply to oil well performance through a technical seminar organized in collaboration with Halliburton and the SPE-ESPOL Student Chapter. The event promoted the exchange of experiences with industry professionals and provided an update on technologies that help optimize hydrocarbon production.

FICT–ESPOL successfully concluded the course “Traditional and Contemporary Structures: Inspection, Monitoring, and Digital Techniques (DIC and Photogrammetry),” held as part of the Erasmus+ KA171 program. The training strengthened the skills of students and professionals in advanced technologies for structural assessment and reinforced academic cooperation between ESPOL and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
