Researchers received the Best Paper Award at IEEE TEMSCON LATAM 2026 for their research on construction methods, solidifying ESPOL’s presence at a leading international conference; they also presented studies on community water management and innovation and strengthened scientific partnerships to advance new applied research projects.

FICT-ESPOL participated in the 16th CONAMIN 2026, one of the region’s leading mining industry conferences, strengthening its presence in academic and technical discussion forums; this participation allowed the faculty to forge closer ties with mining specialists and institutions, learn about the sector’s advancements and innovations, and identify opportunities for collaboration that will contribute to teaching, research, and the faculty’s international profile.

FICT–ESPOL hosted the Ecuadorian Council for Sustainable Building (CEES) to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in areas such as sustainable construction, resilience, water management, and research. The meeting made it possible to establish a joint work agenda focused on developing projects, training programs, and activities with academic and social impact.

FICT-ESPOL unveiled the “Ingeniería VIVA” murals, an artistic project that transforms its spaces into symbols of identity, inspiration, and a sense of belonging for the university community; The project, developed with the participation of students, faculty, administrators, and external partners, aims to reflect the contribution of the school’s degree programs to society and to foster a more intimate, participatory university experience that is connected to culture, sustainability, and the future.

Civil engineering students from FICT-ESPOL expanded their knowledge of structural repair during a technical visit to SIKA in Durán, where they gained a deeper understanding of the use of mortars for the rehabilitation and maintenance of concrete structures; the experience exposed the future engineers to real-world solutions in the sector and reinforced their training in technologies applied to infrastructure preservation.

The ESPOL Alumni Reunion held in Cuenca brought together graduates from different classes and schools to strengthen ties with their alma mater, promote the exchange of experiences, and create new opportunities for collaboration; the FICT’s participation helped consolidate its relationship with its alumni and promote initiatives that strengthen the university’s professional and academic community.

Researchers and students from FICT participated in the 9th Earth Sciences Conference, presenting studies on water management, geological hazards, and volcanic dynamics in the Galápagos Islands. The research provides tools for sustainable planning, natural hazard management, and decision-making based on scientific evidence, strengthening ESPOL’s presence in one of the country’s leading forums for scientific dissemination.

The Petroleum Engineering program at FICT-ESPOL held a team-building event that brought together students and faculty from all academic levels, strengthening camaraderie, a sense of belonging, and student participation; the event also promoted engagement with curricular and extracurricular initiatives that enrich professional training.

The Mining program at FICT-ESPOL participated in an outreach event for Lundin Gold’s Young Professionals Program, an initiative aimed at strengthening the technical and leadership skills of emerging talent in the mining sector; this collaboration strengthens ties between academia and industry and creates professional development opportunities for students and recent graduates.

FICT-ESPOL participated in CEDIA IGNOVA 2026 through Professor Samantha Jiménez, Ph.D., strengthening its ties with national networks in innovation, science, and technology; the event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on technology transfer, artificial intelligence, and academia-industry collaboration, fostering new opportunities for applied research and scientific development in the country.
