Field activities are being carried out in the Bulubulu River basin to assess water quality through physical-chemical and microbiological monitoring. This international cooperation project aims to strengthen water management, access to water, and sustainable development in rural communities.

An in-person course on workflow automation with n8n was held, focusing on the practical use of digital tools to optimize processes. Participants learned how to integrate applications, work with APIs, and apply automation in academic and professional settings.

Participation in an international course strengthened capabilities in volcanic risk assessment and management, combining technical training, the use of specialized tools, and hands-on learning.

On April 13, 2026, a meeting was held at the Guayaquil Chamber of Construction that brought together representatives from the private sector and academia to discuss improvements in pavement design and performance. Participants included industry leaders and faculty members from ESPOL and the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, who presented technical proposals aimed at optimizing the service life of road infrastructure. The meeting strengthened the partnership between academia and the private sector and paved the way for future collaborations.

The FICT-ESPOL Petroleum and Drilling Fluids Laboratory visited schools in Santa Elena as part of inLab 2026, strengthening institutional ties by promoting the Petroleum Engineering program and its career opportunities; the initiative provided career guidance and introduced young people to the university environment and the energy industry.

An academic conference focused on the exchange of experiences in geophysics, geomatics, and sustainability was held at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. During the event, participants analyzed educational approaches, research areas, and regional challenges, as well as identifying opportunities for collaboration in strategic areas. The participation of Engineer Joselyne Solórzano reinforces the commitment to internationalization and the building of academic networks that promote research and professional training.

FICT-ESPOL held an international mirror class in collaboration with the University of Commercial Sciences (UCC) in Nicaragua, promoting academic exchange in civil engineering and the analysis of wastewater treatment systems; the activity strengthened technical skills, fostered dialogue on regional issues, and reinforced internationalization and collaboration between the two institutions.

FICT, in collaboration with RELEX, held an informational session on grant management, during which institutional guidelines, categories, and procedures for proper administration were shared. The session highlighted the strategic value of these agreements for teaching, research, and community engagement, as well as the importance of orderly, traceable management that complies with regulations. The event also facilitated the exchange of experiences among agreement administrators, thereby strengthening institutional processes.

On April 8, 2026, the dean of FICT, Paúl Carrión, led a meeting with the academic support technical team to strengthen institutional coordination. During the session, key topics were addressed, including personnel regulations, scientific output, the organizational chart, and core functions. The strategic role of technical staff in academic quality was highlighted, and research goals were reviewed, particularly in graduate programs. The meeting reaffirmed the importance of teamwork and close collaboration in achieving institutional objectives.

FICT participated in the ESPOL Alumni Gathering in Quito, strengthening ties with its graduates and promoting the exchange of professional experiences; during the event, FICT officials shared academic progress and facilitated opportunities for dialogue to gather feedback, thereby consolidating the ESPOL Alumni Network as a key player in continuous improvement and institutional outreach.
