Experts from the UPM discuss sustainable solutions for the energy transition

FICT Collaborates with UPM Specialists on Sustainable Energy Solutions

ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) organized the conference “Sustainable Energy Solutions,” at which experts from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) discussed technological alternatives related to the challenges of the energy transition.

The event featured professors Marcelo Ortega, Ph.D., and David León, Ph.D., who shared their expertise on three areas of research: energy storage using hydrogen (H₂), sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and waste recovery.

The conference took place on July 23, 2026, in the FICT Conference Room. These topics helped introduce the university community to various alternatives that are part of the current discussion on sustainable energy solutions.

The participation of researchers from UPM also created a space for academic exchange between ESPOL and an international institution, strengthening ties and the flow of knowledge in areas related to energy and sustainability.

For FICT, these types of activities help expand opportunities for training and dialogue on technological issues linked to current energy challenges, promoting exchange with international specialists and universities.
