More than 60 FICT graduates complete their academic studies as part of the 2026 Collective Graduation Ceremony

More than 60 new engineers join the FICT–ESPOL alumni community

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) celebrated its 38th graduating class, during which more than 60 students from the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) were officially recognized as new professionals at the joint graduation ceremony held on July 11, 2026. This milestone marks the end of an important academic phase and the beginning of new professional challenges, while maintaining the bond that connects them to the FICT community and the ESPOL alumni network.

Graduation represents the result of the shared efforts of students, families, faculty, and staff who supported their university education. Beyond earning a professional degree, the new FICT graduates take with them a way of thinking and acting based on a commitment to lifelong learning and the pursuit of solutions that contribute to the country’s development through geosciences engineering.

The faculty bids farewell to a new generation of ESPOL-FICT alumni who will continue to be part of its community—a generation that will carry with them the knowledge, values, and experiences gained during their education, thereby strengthening the Faculty’s impact across various professional, academic, and social sectors. This graduation does not mark an end, but rather the continuation of a relationship that will continue to be built through professional practice, research, and collaboration with future generations of students.

In this 38th graduating class, special recognition was awarded to the top graduates in their respective programs: Jordy Loor Franco, B.S. in Civil Engineering; Felipe García Vargas, B.S. in Petroleum Engineering; Adrián Álvarez Reyes, for the Mining Engineering program; and Astrid Ramírez López, for the Geology program, who was also named the top graduate of the FICT. These distinctions recognize not only academic excellence but also leadership, institutional commitment, and active participation in academic and professional settings, which enabled them to represent the FICT and ESPOL both within and outside the university.

The academic journey of this new group of engineers exemplifies the spirit promoted by the Faculty: to train professionals of integrity, capable of making a positive impact on society and contributing to sustainable development through their various disciplines. Through their participation in projects, academic activities, and opportunities to represent the institution, these graduates reflect the FICT’s commitment to an education that extends beyond the classroom.

FICT celebrates the achievements of all its graduates and reminds them that the doors of their academic home will always remain open; they continue to be part of a community that grows with each generation and carries forward the spirit of “Living Engineering”—which transforms knowledge into solutions for society and keeps alive the commitment to the country’s development.
