As part of International Women in Engineering Day, the Faculty of Geoscience and Engineering at Milagro State University (UNEMI) organized the roundtable discussion “Women Engineers Who Are Transforming the Future: Leadership, Innovation, and Legacies That Endure,” a forum for dialogue that brought together professionals from various fields of engineering to share experiences, reflect on the challenges facing the profession, and inspire new generations.
Natividad García Troncoso, Ph.D., a research professor in the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) and coordinator of the Master’s Program in Seismic-Resistant Civil Structures at ESPOL, participated as a panelist at the event, where she shared her career path in research, academic leadership, and professional development with students and attendees. During her presentation, she emphasized the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to engineering as tools for generating solutions that contribute to the development of society.
FICT’s participation in this event reaffirms ESPOL’s commitment to promoting women’s leadership in STEM fields and to creating opportunities that foster the exchange of knowledge among institutions of higher education. Initiatives like this strengthen the training of future professionals, provide role models for new generations, and promote a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable engineering field.
