FICT Faculty Members Selected as Early-Career Editorial Board Members for Scientific Journals Indexed in Scopus

Early-Career Editorial Board Members

FICT professors and researchers Andrés Velástegui, Ph.D., and Priscila Valverde, Ph.D., have been appointed as Early-Career Editorial Board Members for scientific journals indexed in Scopus. This selection recognizes their contribution to research, their commitment to academic quality, and their work in disseminating scientific knowledge. Andrés Velástegui joins the editorial team of *Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment*, while Priscila Valverde will serve on the editorial board of *Membranes*.

Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment publishes research on remote sensing applications aimed at analyzing and understanding environmental, territorial, and social issues. The journal is in the Q1 quartile and ranks in the 90th percentile—the top 10%—of the Geography, Planning, and Development category, with a CiteScore of 8.1 and 9,224 citations.

Membranes publishes research related to the science, technology, and applications of membranes in areas such as water treatment, desalination, substance separation, energy, environmental processes, and resource recovery. The journal belongs to the Q1 quartile and ranks in the 80th percentile of the Chemical Engineering category, with a CiteScore of 9.4 and 26,360 citations.

In their new editorial roles, both researchers will contribute to promoting the journals, recommending reviewers, proposing special issues, discussing editorial policies, and managing manuscripts. Their appointment to these committees strengthens the presence and participation of ESPOL and FICT in international scientific networks and communities.
