FICT-ESPOL and Holcim Strengthen Training in Sustainable Construction Through Academia 2026

Civil Engineering Students — 8th Cohort of the Holcim Academy

ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) and Holcim Ecuador held the closing ceremony and certificate presentation for the Holcim Academy 2026 (PAO I) on August 21, 2026. The event recognized civil engineering students who successfully completed this technical training program.

During the program, participants developed knowledge related to innovation, concrete technologies, and sustainability applied to construction. The modules included theoretical and practical content on concrete mixing, quality control, and low-carbon construction solutions.

The ceremony highlighted the students’ performance and the participation of instructors and organizing teams who made the Academy possible. The experience complemented the students’ university education with knowledge relevant to the current needs and transformations in the construction sector.

The initiative also addressed challenges related to reducing emissions in the construction industry and developing solutions aimed at lowering the carbon footprint. In this way, the students strengthened technical skills related to materials and processes that will be integral to their future professional practice.

The conclusion of this edition reaffirms the importance of collaboration between academia and the private sector in creating opportunities for specialized training. The partnership between ESPOL and Holcim Ecuador contributes to the development of professionals who are prepared to participate in innovation and transformation processes within the construction sector.
