ESPOL presented its 2025 Accountability Report, highlighting its national leadership, progress in research, sustainability, and innovation, with active participation from FICT.

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) is advancing its commitment to sustainability and integrated water resource management through the project “ESPOL Ecohydrology Demonstration Site: Lakes and Albarradas,” an initiative aimed at obtaining official recognition as an Ecohydrology Demonstration Site from UNESCO.

The career of Geanella Herrera Narváez, a graduate of the Faqculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT), reflects an education that does more than just build knowledge.

The FICT at ESPOL filmed the documentary *Land of Giants: FICT Building the Future*, an audiovisual production aimed at preserving the institution’s history through interviews with professionals who have been part of the unit’s academic and scientific legacy.

Students in the Geotechnical Engineering Master's program at ESPOL participated in a field exercise where they applied technical criteria in real-world conditions, complementing their academic training.

ESPOL and FICT paid an official visit to IGME-CSIC in Spain to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation in areas such as hydroecology, education, and research; the delegation, led by its senior officials, consolidated strategic partnerships and reaffirmed its participation in joint initiatives, paving the way for new opportunities for international collaboration and sustainable development.

The Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) honored international researchers and faculty members during the ALUMNI-ESPOL Meeting at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, strengthening academic ties with Spanish institutions. The collaboration with the IGME-CSIC and the AECID on training and research programs was highlighted. These initiatives promote international scientific cooperation and the development of sustainable solutions for natural resources.

La docente Carola Gordillo (FICT) realiza una visita técnica en The University of Texas at Austin para explorar líneas de investigación en pavimentos. En reunión con el equipo de Jorge Prozzi, se abordó la modelación del desempeño estructural, el análisis de carga de camiones y el uso de tecnologías como LIDAR.

Professor Sergi Nuss of the University of Girona visited ESPOL to strengthen joint projects with FICT and CIPAT, focusing on water resources, land use, and nature-based solutions.

Through CIPAT, FICT-ESPOL conducts geomechanical and hydrogeological studies in mining concessions in Zaruma to identify unstable areas, enhance mining safety, and generate technical information to support decision-making.
