Petroleum, Mining, and Geology Engineering students successfully defend their capstone projects at FICT.

Image
Students of Engineering in Petroleum, Engineering in Mining, and Engineering in Geology from FICT–ESPOL successfully completed the defense of their graduation projects, demonstrating the knowledge and competencies acquired during their academic training. The projects addressed relevant issues in each field, showcasing the integration of theory, applied research, and professional practice, marking a milestone in the completion of their university education.

Civil Engineering Master’s students visit 'La Toma' Raw Water Pumping Station for academic purposes.

Image
Master of Civil Engineering students from FICT–ESPOL participated in a technical site visit to the 'La Toma' Raw Water Pumping Station in Guayaquil to study the SAICA Network’s infrastructure and its real-time quality monitoring systems. The visit served to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, enhancing technical competencies and exposing students to the operational management of large-scale water supply networks.

Geology students conduct a field trip in Santa Elena to strengthen their training in coastal geology and hydrogeology.

Image
Geology Engineering students from ESPOL conducted a fieldwork expedition in Santa Elena to apply Hydrogeology and Ecuadorian Geology principles in sites such as Manglaralto and San Vicente. Collaborating with academic experts and the local community, students measured water parameters and analyzed sedimentary environments, linking this practical experience to water sustainability projects and the achievement of SDGs 4 and 6.

Petroleum Engineering students conducted a technical field trip to the Pacifpetrol S.A. facilities in Ancón.

As part of their comprehensive training, Petroleum Engineering students from ESPOL conducted a technical field trip to the Pacifpetrol S.A. facilities in Ancón, where they strengthened their knowledge of artificial lift systems, refining, and the innovative use of solar panels in the industry. The activity, led by M.Sc. Christian Sánchez Rodríguez, allowed future engineers to link theory with operational management in mature fields, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, 7, 9, and 12) by promoting a technical, efficient, and responsible vision of the national energy sector.

Petroleum Engineering students participated in the 'Production Engineering' academic debate.

Petroleum Engineering students from FICT-ESPOL participated in a technical debate analyzing the current reliance on Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) versus alternative artificial lift systems in Ecuador's mature fields. The activity integrated environmental, economic, and technological impact assessments, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening critical thinking applied to real-world challenges in the national energy sector.

Explore, Discover and Decide: The interactive journey toward your future at FICT

Image
ESPOL's FICT held the RUTA FICT “Explore, Discover and Decide” event, an interactive career guidance experience that allowed applicants to learn about careers in Geology, Mining, Petroleum, and Civil Engineering in a practical way. Through tours of laboratories, technical challenges, and experimental activities, participants were able to experience the career before choosing it, strengthening an informed and motivated decision about their university future.

Mining students strengthen expertise in natural zeolite mining via Co-Teaching

Image
Mining Engineering students from the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT-ESPOL) participated in a co-teaching session with Dr. Fernando Morante (CIPAT) regarding zeolite deposits in the Chongón–Colonche Range. The session bridged the gap between applied geology and selective mining techniques within the Ecuadorian context, strengthening the technical judgment of future professionals and aligning with SDGs 4, 9, 12, and 15 through quality education linked to the real industry.

Bringing Geotechnics to life in the field: Hands-on experience at FICT-ESPOL

Image
FICT-ESPOL enhances postgraduate education through field practices in its Master's in Geotechnics program. Under the guidance of expert Maurizio Mulas, students conducted stratigraphic column logging, applying real technical criteria to strengthen decision-making in infrastructure projects. This experience reflects ESPOL's academic excellence, which combines scientific rigor with hands-on learning to train leaders in engineering.
