FICT Research Applies InSAR Technology for Volcanic Monitoring in Ecuador

ESPOL's FICT participated in a study published in a Q1 journal that uses InSAR technology and Sentinel-1 data to analyze the deformation of volcanoes in northern Ecuador. The results demonstrate the potential of these techniques to strengthen volcanic monitoring and risk management through non-invasive tools.

Patent Developed by ESPOL and UTE Receives International Recognition in Tokyo

The patent for the “Hydromechanical Concrete Shrinkage Measurement Device” was presented at the World Genius Convention & Education Expo 2026 in Tokyo, where it won a Gold Award and a Special Award. The device, which is low-cost and can be used in both laboratory and field settings, represents a breakthrough in the practical measurement of concrete shrinkage, demonstrating the international impact of Ecuadorian academic innovation through the collaboration between UTE and ESPOL.
