Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) opened its doors to transform career guidance into a real-life experience. Under the slogan “Explore, Discover, and Decide,” the RUTA FICT event became the first step for ESPOL applicants to connect with their true passion for earth sciences.

It wasn't just a talk, it was an experience

Prospective students were fully immersed in the world of engineering through experimental stations and hands-on activities:

  • EXPLORE: They toured laboratories and areas dedicated to Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Civil Engineering, getting a close-up look at the tools that move the world.

  • DISCOVER: They participated in technical challenges and hands-on activities that allowed them to understand how science is applied to solve real-world problems.

  • DECIDE: With direct information from professors and the experience of “trying out” the career, the young people gained the confidence they needed to choose their professional future.

The importance of experiencing the degree program before starting it

For those who are about to make the leap to university, participating in activities like this is crucial. The importance lies in:

  1. Vocational Security: By interacting with teams and simulations, students can confirm whether their profile fits the degree program, reducing the risk of doubts midway through their studies.

  2. Belonging and Motivation: Feeling part of the faculty before the first day of classes increases commitment and motivation to get through the leveling stage.

  3. Real Criteria: It allows students to differentiate concepts and understand the job market for each engineering field, ensuring that their choice is informed and strategic.

Commitment to the future

Beyond the technical aspects, the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) promotes teamwork, inclusion, and integration from the very first contact, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and inspiring new talent to lead the change towards a more sustainable world.
