The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL held a meeting with the new board of the FICT Student Association (AEFICT) to learn about its work plan and establish areas of collaboration with the faculty.

During the dialogue, AEFICT President Hellen Galarza García presented the management plan of the new student committee, Impulso FICT, which is structured around academic, welfare, administrative, and sociocultural areas. These areas seek to strengthen student participation, promote spaces for academic support, and foster human development within the FICT student community.

During the meeting, held on March 3, 2026, opportunities were analyzed to coordinate the initiatives of the new student board with the academic and institutional actions developed by the faculty, which allowed for the establishment of an initial space for coordination to accompany the implementation of the work plan of the new AEFICT board. Among the topics addressed were proposals aimed at strengthening communication between students and faculty, promoting complementary academic activities, promoting student welfare initiatives, and creating spaces that reinforce identity and a sense of belonging in the FICT community.

The meeting was attended by Paúl Carrión, PhD., Dean of FICT, Kenny Escobar, MSc., Associate Dean of FICT, Joselyne Solorzano, Ph.D.(c), Coordinator of the Geology Program, and Carola Gordillo, M.Sc., Coordinator of the FICT Career Promotion Plan.

This dialogue is part of a series of actions aimed at consolidating a participatory and committed university community, in which students and authorities work together to build a LIVING Engineering program, understood as an education that integrates knowledge, leadership, human values, and commitment to society.
