FICT Monitors Innovation and Intellectual Property Indicators for 2026

Innovation and Intellectual Property: FICT Promotes Projects with Potential for Registration in 2026

The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) held a follow-up meeting on the 2026 innovation indicators at the FICT-ESPOL campus in Guayaquil. The in-person event brought together coordinators and faculty members from the school, along with Walter Morán, an engineer and analyst from the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI).

The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate alternatives and discuss projects with the potential to be registered as intellectual property in 2026. During the session, ideas were shared aimed at strengthening innovation management within the faculty, in alignment with established institutional indicators.

As a result, five projects with registration potential were identified, which would help advance progress toward meeting three of the institution’s four common innovation indicators. In addition, actions were defined to continue working on the pending indicator, with a view to its validation in the coming months.

The meeting was attended by faculty members Andrés Guzmán, M.Eng., Mijail Arias, M.Eng., Rafael Cabrera, M.Eng., Juan Pablo Molina, M.Eng., and Josué Briones, M.Eng., who, together with Walter Morán, M.Eng., agreed to continue the process with a new meeting scheduled in two weeks.

This monitoring helps strengthen applied research, knowledge transfer, and the development of solutions that have an impact on the productive sector and society.
