The dean of ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT), Paúl Carrión, Ph.D., received the iPEER (International Professional Engineering Educator Registry) international certification at the “Education Researcher” level during a ceremony held on July 22 in the ESPOL Rector’s Office auditorium. The event also recognized faculty members from ESPOL and the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES) as part of the ETALENT project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.
The iPEER certification accredits engineering professors who meet international standards of excellence in the academic, professional, and pedagogical spheres, following an evidence-based evaluation process validated by an international peer review panel. This recognition highlights the dean’s track record in training engineers and reaffirms the FICT’s commitment to strengthening academic quality and continuously improving its educational processes.
With this certification, the FICT dean joins the group of faculty members who received this international recognition months ago, highlighting an academic community that aligns with international educational standards.
Obtaining this certification helps position FICT at the forefront of initiatives focused on educational innovation, professional development for faculty, and academic excellence. These efforts directly benefit the training of professionals who are prepared to address the country’s scientific, technological, and social challenges, thereby promoting knowledge creation and sustainable development.
