Research carried out at the ESPOL continues to gain visibility on strategic international stages, with its researchers participating in the Second Meeting of the Network of National Centers of Excellence in CCUS, co-organized by IEAGHG and the UT-BEG Gulf Coast Carbon Centre. The meeting brought together 13 centers from Asia and Latin America to exchange updates, share information resources, and discuss recent advances in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS).

The discussions highlighted shared priorities in the Global South: strengthening technical capacities, coordinating with public policy makers, and preparing projects with funding potential.

Of particular interest was India's announcement of a $2.4 billion investment in CCUS projects to be implemented over the next five years, which prompted reflections on the importance of sustained public funding.

ESPOL's participation as a recent member of the network reinforces Ecuador's role in the regional development of CCUS and consolidates its commitment to international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
