Curriculum reform with a student-centered approach

FICT is moving forward with its curriculum reform, focusing on academic quality and relevance

On April 7, 2026, the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) hosted a visit from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for a working session aimed at reviewing progress on the curriculum reform process.

This session, which included the participation of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Paola Romero, and the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Marcos Buestán, allowed for the alignment of criteria to continue strengthening academic training from a comprehensive perspective, adapted to global dynamics and the new demands of the professional environment.

More than a technical review, the workshop reaffirmed a key principle: the quality of education is built through coordinated efforts. In this context, the strategic role of program coordinators was highlighted as central to identifying opportunities for improvement, providing closer support to students, and generating tailored responses—especially for programs with low enrollment, where a more personalized and proactive approach is required.

The curriculum reform process at FICT is taking shape as an ongoing effort aimed not only at improving academic efficiency but also at adapting nimbly to changes in the global context, strengthening the relevance of degree programs, and ensuring a flexible, connected education with real-world impact.

At FICT, training professionals also means evolving with the environment and guiding each student’s journey with purpose.
