FICT shared strategies for strengthening the recruitment and support of applicants

Focus Group Meeting

ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) participated in a follow-up session for student groups considered high priority due to low enrollment. During the session, the school presented its institutional experience and the measures it has implemented to strengthen recruitment and retention of prospective students.

The meeting featured a presentation of the FICT Strategic Plan for Program Promotion, approved by the FICT Academic Unit Council (CUA). This document outlines guidelines aimed at developing new promotional approaches, fostering innovative practices to engage prospective students, and supporting them throughout their academic journey.

The presentation provided an opportunity to reflect on the lessons learned from implementing these strategies and highlighted the coordinated efforts between the faculty’s leadership, program coordinators, and the Communications Department. Furthermore, sharing this experience with working groups focused on specific niches—including indigenous peoples and nationalities, as well as students with disabilities—provides insights and best practices that can inspire the development of institutional strategies aimed at increasing student enrollment and strengthening student retention within the polytechnic community until they complete their degrees.

These initiatives reflect FICT's commitment to inclusion, access to higher education, and the expansion of academic opportunities for diverse sectors of society.
