FICT Begins Supporting Students Selected for Academic Mobility in Spain

Delegation from the “Pioneers of Living Engineering” International Mobility Program

The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) held a welcome meeting with the 11 students selected for the “Pioneros de Ingeniería VIVA FICT” International Mobility Program, with the aim of supporting them during the early stages of preparation for this international academic experience.

The meeting was attended by Freddy Carrión, M.Sc., Academic Mobility Coordinator, and Silvia Loaiza, Ph.D., Mining Program Coordinator, who welcomed the student delegation and officially kicked off this international program. During the meeting, topics related to pre-trip preparations were discussed.

As part of the session, a travel advisor walked the students through the visa application process, providing guidance on the necessary steps and requirements to move forward with this educational and exchange experience.

The international program is scheduled for November 21 through December 5, 2026. During this period, students majoring in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, and Petroleum Engineering will have the opportunity to participate in activities that include visits to universities, laboratories, and companies, as well as opportunities for academic and cultural exchange.

This initiative aims to broaden the international perspective of future professionals, strengthen their leadership and innovation skills, and foster connections with academic and professional communities. It also promotes the representation of FICT and ESPOL on the international stage, with the expectation that the knowledge gained will subsequently be shared with the university community.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • SDG 4: Quality Education. International mobility helps strengthen academic training and facilitate the exchange of knowledge in international contexts.

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. The program provides opportunities to establish connections and promote cooperation with universities, laboratories, and companies.
