ESPOL reconoce a sus investigadores en la VI edición de Cuartiles Mayores
On October 30, the 6th edition of Cuartiles Mayores was held at ESPOL’s Gustavo Galindo campus, an event organized by the Office of Research to celebrate and recognize the high-impact scientific work carried out by the polytechnic community.
The event took place over two sessions and brought together faculty members, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students, who were honored for their contributions to knowledge generation and scientific innovation for the benefit of society. In total, 166 recognitions were awarded to students, academic units, institutional research centers, and outstanding researchers of 2024.
Among the award categories were:
Positioning in QS subject areas and sub-areas
Exceptional publication
International research collaboration
Non-reimbursable competitive research funds
Intellectual property with the highest potential
Among other distinctions aimed at promoting scientific excellence
In this edition, the Faculty of Engineering in Earth Sciences (FICT) received two important distinctions:
Academic Unit with the Highest Scientific Productivity per Researcher
Unit with the Highest Amount of Demand-Driven Research Funding in 2024
Likewise, FICT was also recognized for an Indexed Article Publication, awarded to:
Valeria Vaca Molina, Ing.
Eudes Ramos Sánchez, Ing.
Astrid Ramírez López, Ing.
Brayan Pinto Ponce, Ing.
These recognitions reflect the faculty’s sustained commitment to scientific development and applied research.

Additionally, in the category of individual achievements, M.Sc. Maribel Aguilar, from the Center for Research and Applied Projects in Earth Sciences (CIPAT), received the award for Best Research Technician at ESPOL, further consolidating FICT’s leadership in the generation of high-level knowledge.
During the event, the Dean of Research, Dr. Ángel Ramírez, highlighted the dedication and effort of the polytechnic community:
“In Cuartiles Mayores, we celebrate commitment, dedication, and excellence in research, honoring the results achieved through perseverance. Each awardee has taken a step forward toward a future where science and technology are innovative tools to address the challenges our society faces.”
