ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) held the official welcome ceremony and kickoff of the academic term for the third cohort of the Master’s in Geosciences program. The event took place on May 11 at 8:00 a.m. in the school’s conference room, with the participation of university officials, faculty members, and students.
The purpose of the event was to formally open the new academic term and reaffirm the institution’s commitment to graduate-level education and scientific research. During the event, students were introduced to the program’s academic structure, the guidelines that will shape their educational journey, the faculty members for each module, the various facilities (laboratories) available for conducting their research, as well as the research objectives of FICT-ESPOL.
Participants in the event included the dean of FICT, Paúl Carrión, Ph.D., the associate dean, the graduate studies coordinator, the master’s program coordinator, and the coordination team, along with faculty members from the program. This event helped strengthen the bond between university officials, faculty, and students, fostering an initial sense of community focused on academic and professional development.
The third cohort consists of 14 students committed to the study and conservation of our planet across various fields of the geosciences. This program develops specialized research skills for analyzing and managing natural resources and land, with the aim of addressing Ecuador’s major challenges in sustainability, environmental management, and climate change adaptation.
With the launch of this cohort, FICT strengthens its graduate program offerings and its contribution to the generation of applied knowledge, in line with ESPOL’s mission to train professionals who contribute to sustainable development.
