As part of the inLab 2026 activities, the Petroleum and Drilling Fluids Laboratory of the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL visited seven schools in the province of Santa Elena, located in the cantons of Santa Elena, La Libertad, Salinas, and Ancón.
The event took place on Thursday, April 17, and included meetings with institutional leaders, such as rectors and vice rectors, with the aim of sharing information about the Petroleum Engineering program at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), its areas of study, and career opportunities. The role of the energy industry in the country’s development and its impact on strategic sectors was also discussed.
Among the institutions visited were the Rubira Catholic Private School, the Guillermo Ordóñez Gómez School, the Ancón School (Ancón Technical Public School), the Santa Teresita Educational Institution, the Eugenio Espejo Military Educational Institution, the Dr. Luis Célleri Avilés Educational Institution, and the Santa Elena Peninsula Educational Institution. These initiatives help strengthen the bond between academia and educational institutions in areas influenced by the oil industry, promoting opportunities for career guidance and exposure to higher education.
In this context, the Petroleum and Drilling Fluids Laboratory extended formal invitations to educational institutions to participate in the inLab 2026 activities, which include campus tours. These initiatives aim to give students firsthand experience of the facilities, hands-on laboratory activities, and the university environment.
The activity helps foster students’ interest in science, engineering, and fields related to energy and natural resources, in line with ESPOL’s institutional commitment to contributing to the country’s academic and productive development.
