As part of International Women's Day, the female community of the Faculty of Earth Sciences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral participated in a meeting and reflection space aimed at recognizing the role of women in academia, science, and engineering.
During the event, a participatory activity was developed based on the question: “If you could give a voice to a woman, who would you give it to?” The activity invited participants to share messages of recognition and gratitude towards their colleagues, highlighting qualities, values, and contributions that inspire their personal and professional lives.
Recognizing women who inspire
The interventions reflected stories of leadership, resilience, generosity, and commitment, highlighting the influence of women who, from different areas of academic and professional life, contribute to the development of society and the strengthening of the female presence in STEM fields. This exercise created a moment of mutual recognition and strengthened ties within the FICT community, reminding us that institutional growth is also built on support, admiration, and collaboration among colleagues.

Promoting LIVING Engineering
These types of initiatives seek to strengthen the sense of community within the faculty and promote LIVING Engineering, understood as engineering that integrates knowledge, human values, and social commitment. At FICT, this vision is reflected not only in academic training, but also in spaces for meeting, dialogue, and recognition that strengthen a more humane, inclusive, and collaborative community.
