The Sonidos del Sol Tour Brings Latin American Music to the FICT Community

Sonidos del Sol Tour at FICT

The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) hosted a performance by the Latin American Folk Music Group Sonidos del Sol as part of their institutional tour leading up to “Cultural Monday: Sonidos del Sol Anniversary,” organized by the Art and Culture Department of the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral (ESPOL). The performance took place outside the Dean’s Office, where Latin American folk music created a gathering space for the polytechnic community.

FICT staff and students gathered to enjoy a repertoire that highlights the region’s cultural richness. The event helped strengthen ties within the university community through art, promoting access to cultural expressions that contribute to holistic education and the recognition of Latin American identity.

Sonidos del Sol, founded in 2007, aims to promote Latin American folklore through the performance of wind, string, and percussion instruments. Throughout its history, the group has represented ESPOL at various cultural venues nationwide, contributing to the promotion of art and culture both within and outside the institution.

The institutional tour is part of “Cultural Monday: Sonidos del Sol Anniversary,” which will take place on March 30 at 5:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna on the Las Peñas Campus. This edition marks a significant occasion as it recognizes the contribution of the group’s founder, who has for years promoted the dissemination of Latin American musical heritage within the Polytechnic community.
