The Master’s Program in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction and Sanitation at ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) hosted a talk titled “Smart Construction: Automation and Real-Time Data Analysis Using BIM and Artificial Intelligence.” The event was aimed at students, industry professionals, and the alumni community, with the goal of analyzing the impact of digital transformation on the construction industry.
The session featured engineer Juan Diego Núñez, Ph.D., who discussed the use of tools based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and artificial intelligence technologies applied to process automation and real-time data analysis. During the session, approaches were presented that enable the optimization of project management, improved decision-making, and enhanced construction site oversight through the strategic use of information.
The event encouraged reflection on how digitalization is redefining the way construction processes are planned, executed, and supervised. It also created a space for collaboration between academia and the construction sector, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and updates on technological trends that contribute to efficiency and sustainability in construction.
This initiative is part of the Master's in Civil Engineering program's approach to promoting applied education and the integration of innovative tools into professional practice.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
