On February 26, 2026, ESPOL's Master of Civil Engineering Degree with a Specialization in Construction and Sanitation held an international mirror class in coordination with the Civil Engineering Program at the University of Commercial Sciences (UCC) in Nicaragua.
The Master of Civil Engineering Degree contributes to ESPOL's international projection through the development of mirror classes, in which students from the Civil Engineering program and master's students from the VII cohort of the master's program participated, promoting a valuable academic and cultural exchange.
The class was taught by Cristian Salas, M.Sc., a professor in the master's program, who addressed the modeling of drinking water networks using the free software EPANET, a tool widely used internationally for hydraulic analysis, pressure and flow simulation, and efficient management of water distribution systems.
This space allowed for the sharing of experiences on regional challenges and the strengthening of technical skills with a Latin American perspective.
The activity also consolidates the academic ties between ESPOL and UCC, opening up opportunities for future academic and research collaborations.
This academic experience is aligned with the following SDGs:
- ODS 4 – Educación de calidad
- ODS 6 – Agua limpia y saneamiento
- ODS 17 – Alianzas para lograr los objetivos
Organizers:
- Dra. Priscila Valverde
- M.Sc. Karla Filián
- Ing. Marlene Córdova
- M.Sc. Maxwell Altamirano (UCC)
