With continued institutional support, Halliburton, in collaboration with the ESPOL Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), organized the technical presentation “Artificial Lift: Failure Diagnosis and Satellite Monitoring,” held on July 8, 2026, in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT).
The lecture was presented by Leopoldo Medina, M.Sc., a production engineer at Halliburton, with the aim of strengthening academic training and familiarizing ESPOL petroleum engineering students with the mechanisms used for artificial lift in wells, covering the fundamentals of these systems, methodologies for fault diagnosis, and the use of remote and satellite monitoring technologies to optimize hydrocarbon production and improve operational decision-making in oil fields.
At the end of the event, faculty and students from the program witnessed the student chapter’s recognition of Mr. Leopoldo for his contribution to the training of future professionals through the presentation of real-world industry case studies, which fostered a space for dialogue and the exchange of ideas regarding technological trends applied to oil well performance.
These types of initiatives reflect the SPE-ESPOL Student Chapter’s strong performance in creating training opportunities focused on technical updates and collaborative work with the private sector, which contributes to the optimization and sustainable management of hydrocarbon resources.
