On Friday, July 10, ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) held a virtual launch of the SLB–ESPOL Chairs, an initiative aimed at strengthening expertise in reservoir engineering and contributing to the continuing education of students and future professionals in the hydrocarbons sector.
The official opening of the program was led by Benjamín Bonfanti, Eng., SLB’s Operations Manager, and, representing ESPOL, FICT Dean Paúl Carrión, Ph.D., and Petroleum Engineering Program Coordinator María Cecibel Castillo, M.Sc. During the launch, the officials highlighted the value of collaboration between academia and industry to strengthen the technical skills of future petroleum engineers and address the current needs of the oil sector.
The SLB–ESPOL Corporate Chairs are structured into four modules delivered over six synchronous virtual sessions, which will cover topics related to reservoir classification, reserve estimation, extraction stages, the use of specialized software, and the application of new technologies for the analysis and management of Ecuador’s hydrocarbon resources.
This initiative strengthens the link between FICT and the productive sector, promoting innovation, knowledge transfer, and the development of human talent for an industry in constant evolution.
