Within the framework of the recently signed Inter-institutional Agreement, the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL held an initial working meeting with the authorities of the Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD) of the Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno canton (Jujan). This meeting marks the beginning of a technical roadmap to address critical challenges in the territory.

Focusing on Territorial Priorities: The main objective of the session was to analyze the request submitted by the Municipal GAD and explore lines of joint action. During the meeting, the priority issues identified by the canton were presented and contrasted with FICT’s technical and scientific capabilities.

The main focus of this cooperation will center on:

  • The structuring of proposals for comprehensive risk management.

  • The design of strategies for flood mitigation, one of the most urgent needs in the area.

Engagement with Sustainable Impact: This working session established the administrative and technical foundations to ensure effective cooperation. By aligning academic knowledge with local needs, FICT aims to promote solutions that are both technically and socially sustainable, improving the quality of life and safety of Jujan’s inhabitants.

Through these actions, FICT reaffirms its commitment to Community Engagement, transferring institutional expertise and scientific rigor to strengthen local development and territorial resilience in Ecuador.
