On April 28, an in-person meeting of faculty members from the Geology program was held at the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL, with the aim of reviewing academic planning and international accreditation processes. The event brought together faculty members, research technicians, and laboratory staff associated with the program.
During the meeting, participants discussed topics related to ABET accreditation and the advance planning of actions for EUR-ACE reaccreditation. In addition, they analyzed recommendations and practices to be implemented with students during the first academic term (PAO I), including field trips and project-based workshops, with an emphasis on strengthening practical training.
As a result, activities and guidelines to be implemented during the new semester were defined, along with key considerations regarding the program’s curriculum reform. These actions aim to ensure academic quality, continuous improvement, and the relevance of geology education in light of the challenges of the professional environment.
The initiative contributes to strengthening academic and assessment processes, directly benefiting students through an education aligned with international standards. It also reinforces the institution’s commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement in its academic programs.
