ESPOL’s Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) and the Biblián Municipal Government are making progress in defining the terms of cooperation for the upcoming signing of an interinstitutional framework agreement. The meeting took place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the FICT facilities on ESPOL’s Gustavo Galindo Velasco Campus.
The agreement will enable FICT to provide technical and scientific support to the canton of Biblián. Among the planned activities are geological, structural, and geotechnical studies aimed at characterizing geological faults and identifying potential risk triggers in the area.
The results of this collaboration will serve as a basis for strengthening community safety and territorial planning in the canton.
The characterization of geological faults will also serve as a learning opportunity for FICT students, who will be able to apply the knowledge gained in their professional courses to real-world situations related to geosciences and engineering.
The initiative aligns ESPOL’s academic and technical capabilities with the needs of the Biblián canton, strengthening the link between the university and the public sector to develop studies that address specific challenges in the region.
