On February 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., the technical lecture “Natural Gas: A Key Solution to Ecuador’s Energy Crisis” was held, organized by the Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering (Water and Gas Injection Recovery track) of the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL.

The event took place in a hybrid format from Conference Room 13A at FICT, allowing in-person and virtual participation from students, professionals, and members of the academic community interested in the energy sector.

Technical contribution and international perspective

The session featured M.Sc. Raúl Ortiz, an international petroleum advisor, who presented a technical analysis on the strategic role of natural gas in strengthening the country’s energy security.

His presentation addressed the current context of the national energy system, the efficient use of resources, and the opportunities natural gas offers as a transition source within a more diversified and sustainable energy matrix.

The event fostered academic reflection and technical dialogue on viable alternatives to address Ecuador’s energy challenges.

Commitment to the country’s energy development

Through initiatives like this, the Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering reaffirms its commitment to specialized training and high-level technical analysis, consolidating its role as an academic reference in strategic issues for national energy development.
