FICT is promoting the course on Port Engineering

Port Engineering Track

In an increasingly competitive global landscape, the strengthening of international trade has become a key factor in Ecuador’s economic development. In this context, training highly qualified professionals in port and coastal infrastructure is essential to ensuring the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the country’s ports.

In response to this reality, the Faculty of Geosiences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) is strengthening academic training in Civil Engineering through a specialized track in Port Engineering.

This specialization track is designed to help students develop competencies in the analysis, design, and construction of port infrastructure. The approach integrates technical, regulatory, and sustainability criteria, aligned with the current demands of the port and logistics sector.

The track is taught by Professor Pedro Rojas, Ph.D., who has over 36 years of experience in academia, as well as in consulting and supervision of civil engineering projects, including those related to port infrastructure. His extensive experience allows him to bring real-world cases, up-to-date methodologies, and applied technical criteria into the classroom, strengthening students’ practical training and critical thinking skills.

Through this initiative, FICT-ESPOL reaffirms its commitment to training professionals capable of meeting the demands of global trade. The academic program aims to bridge technical knowledge with the country’s needs, contributing to sustainable development and the strengthening of Ecuador’s strategic infrastructure.

Likewise, civil engineering students are invited to consider this program as an opportunity to specialize in a field of high relevance and professional prospects, one that allows them to contribute directly to national competitiveness.
