FICT conducted a technical analysis on the future of Ecuador's oil sector

Oil Industry Experts at a Roundtable Discussion

The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL, through its Petroleum Engineering program and the Master’s in Petroleum Engineering with a specialization in Water and Gas Injection Recovery, organized the forum “The State of Ecuador’s Oil Industry: A Technical Perspective from Academia on the Country’s Future,” held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The purpose of the event was to create a space for technical and academic analysis of the current state of Ecuador’s oil sector, bringing together industry specialists to address the country’s main challenges and opportunities in areas related to exploration, production, refining, transportation, the regulatory framework, and the energy transition.

During the forum, well-founded perspectives were shared on the strategic role of hydrocarbons in national development, highlighting the need to advance long-term policies, promote technological innovation, and strengthen ties between academia and the productive sector. Such forums contribute to the development of technical solutions aimed at the sustainability and competitiveness of Ecuador’s energy industry.

The event also strengthened the exchange of knowledge among experts, professionals, students, and the general public, cementing ESPOL’s role as a forum for reflection and knowledge generation regarding the energy challenges facing Ecuador. Through initiatives like this, FICT reaffirms its commitment to developing human talent and promoting evidence-based academic debate to contribute to the country’s development.
