As part of the academic activities for the Hydrology course, civil engineering students from the Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) made a technical visit to the meteorological station located at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Guayaquil.

During the workday, specialists from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMHI), Eng. José González and Eng. Carlos Naranjo, shared their knowledge on the operation of equipment used to monitor meteorological variables, as well as its importance in hydrometeorological analysis and sustainable water resource management.

This academic activity allowed students to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom through direct observation of the instruments and methodologies used in data recording and analysis, strengthening their technical skills and understanding of the relationship between climatic conditions and water management.

The visit was organized by Ph.D. Tomas Vitvar and Priscila Valverde, Ph.D., as part of FICT's institutional commitment to comprehensive training based on the articulation between academic knowledge, professional practice, and collaborative work.

Alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This activity contributes to the fullfilment of the following Sustainable Development Goals:
