As an integral part of the Petroleum Engineering community service program at ESPOL, an outreach session was held in the San José de Ancón parish. The activity took place at the Ancón Educational Unit (UEA) and aimed to integrate academic knowledge with the historical and technical context of the area.

Knowledge Transfer and Oil Culture

During the field trip, students Lissette Pita and Marco Aspiazu led training sessions for both UEA students and local residents. The main topics addressed included:

  • Ancón’s Oil History: A journey through the legacy of this emblematic area for the country.

  • Operational Infrastructure: A technical explanation of the current operation of oil wells in the sector.

The session was supported by the technical guidance and supervision of professors Danilo Arcentales, Ph.D., and Freddy Carrión, M.Sc., who ensured the proper transfer of knowledge.

Inter-institutional Cooperation

The success of this activity was possible thanks to the coordinated management with the Ancón Parish GAD. We express our gratitude to Samuel Rendón, M.Sc., President of the GAD, and his assistant, Isabel Molina, M.Sc., for facilitating contact with educational units and the local community.

This joint effort promotes collaborative learning and reaffirms FICT-ESPOL’s commitment to contributing to the development and empowerment of communities through technical education and social service.
