The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at ESPOL continues to promote learning spaces with a global vision. On this occasion, we welcomed Luke Bockelmann, a Civil Engineering student from the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla (Colombia), who participated in a keynote lecture for students of the Pavement Design course.
During his presentation, Bockelmann shared the results and insights gained from his pre-professional internships, which focused on an innovative methodology: video processing for the monitoring and diagnosis of flexible pavements.

Technical Innovation in the Classroom The speaker demonstrated how the use of these technological tools allows for:
Optimizing the identification of surface distresses on roads.
Generating more precise and automated diagnostics.
Supporting strategic decision-making for road maintenance and conservation.
Commitment to Internationalization These types of encounters not only enrich the technical training of our future engineers but are also key to strengthening FICT's internationalization indicators. By promoting knowledge exchange with prestigious institutions such as Universidad del Norte, the Faculty reaffirms its commitment to academic collaboration and the development of professionals with a global perspective.
