Civil Engineering Students Strengthen Their Training Through Technical Visits to Urban Road Projects in Guayaquil
With the aim of linking academic theory with professional practice, students from the Civil Engineering program at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) participated in a field learning experience, visiting two of the main urban road infrastructure projects currently under construction in the city of Guayaquil.
The activity took place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as part of the Installations course, and was accompanied by MSc. Ingrid Orta and MSc. Carola Gordillo. During the visit, students were able to directly observe the application of classroom knowledge in high-impact urban infrastructure projects.

Projects Visited
The projects analyzed included:
The construction of the vehicular overpass at the intersection of Avenida del Bombero and Avenida Dr. Leopoldo Carrera.
Road Solution 3, located at the intersection of Avenida Juan Tanca Marengo and Avenida Rodrigo Chávez González, a key project for strengthening Guayaquil’s urban road network.
Applied Learning in Real-World Contexts
During the technical visit, students gained first-hand knowledge of construction processes and complementary installations typical of urban road projects, as well as traffic management criteria, on-site safety measures, and work planning. This experience allowed them to better understand the impact of civil engineering on mobility, road safety, and citizens’ quality of life.

Commitment to Sustainable Development
These types of academic activities reinforce the comprehensive training of future civil engineers, promoting the development of technical skills, critical thinking, and social responsibility.
