The Faculty of Geosciences Engineering (FICT) at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral successfully held THE FINAL PITCH, the culminating stage of 5MinPitch, an academic initiative that strengthens the communication and strategic skills of students enrolled in the Integrative Subject course.
THE FINAL PITCH is a space designed for future professionals to present their final degree projects in a maximum of five minutes before a multidisciplinary jury. This dynamic promotes technical synthesis, solid argumentation, decision-making, and the ability to communicate proposals with impact, all of which are fundamental skills for professional practice.
After making it through the semifinals, the five finalist projects participated in the final round, which took place in four main stages:
Official presentation of each finalist pitch and evaluation by the jury.
Poster exhibition open to the public.
Deliberation and selection of the winning project by faculty.
Closing ceremony and awards presentation.
During the closing ceremony, Kenny Escobar, M.Sc., associate dean of FICT, addressed the students, praising them for their discipline, preparation, and commitment, and highlighting the support of their tutors as key guides in the development and consolidation of their projects.
As a result of the evaluation process, the winner of THE FINAL PITCH by FICT was. Eng. Diana Franco, from Petroleum Engineering and a recent ESPOL alumni. Her project stood out for the technical soundness of the proposal, the clarity of communication, and the relevance of the solution proposed in response to real challenges in the sector.
The participation of the finalists demonstrated the high academic level of the faculty and its commitment to comprehensive training that transcends technical mastery, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting spaces that strengthen professional skills, critical thinking, and leadership.
With initiatives such as this, FICT reaffirms its mission to train professionals capable of transforming their environment through knowledge, innovation, and effective communication.
