Project: Analysis of the Environmental Performance of Cement in Ecuador - Innovation in Sustainable Engineering

The objective of this project is to quantify the environmental performance of conventional cement production in Ecuador. For this, the life cycle analysis (LCA) methodological framework will be used. The ultimate goal of this project is to find alternatives to mitigate the environmental impact of the infrastructure. This project is the beginning of the work of the Sustainable Engineering group regarding Sustainable infrastructure. Future studies would include the study of the environmental behavior of other construction materials, compilation of inputs and outputs of the stages of use and end of life.

Project: Holistic Study of Alternatives for Sustainable Housing of Social Interest: Proposal of Prototypes for the Ecuadorian Coast

This project proposes to determine a prototype of sustainable housing of social interest, which can be quickly and systematically built, which meets habitability and comfort requirements. In addition, it is sought that the prototype has a low energy consumption, provides an efficient use of water and a correct disposal of solid and liquid waste, even in places where there are no public services.

It is expected that this project will serve to start a pilot housing program for the Ecuadorian coast.
